23 things I learned in 2023

 23 THINGS I LEARNED IN 2023

1. "You won't always be happy with yourself or the people around you."

Your happiness is yours, with your routine, your will, your ups and downs, why should you expect to always be okay with yourself when you're not constant? Today something happened and my reaction was a thousand times better than it would have been just two years ago. Why was that? Because I've grown, I've healed wounds, I've learnt from situations and I've only got to where I am because my well-being with myself and with others isn't firewood for my fireplace.

2. "The people you need most won't always be ready to help."

Don't take the help and charity of those around you for granted. Humility leads you to great life plans, why? Because you don't guarantee help from everyone and everything, because you know who you need to support you and who you simply want in your life because you like them. In other words, there are people in your life who just bring you joy and fun, and there are people who are a help in difficult times. Have both!

3. "Empathy should always be with you."

Take care of those around you if only by thinking of them kindly, not saying bad things and not criticising. You don't know the person's journey, they don't know yours - empathise with them, just as you want them to empathise with you => and even if the other person doesn't empathise with you, don't lose that little bit of yourself.

4. "God is good all the time and all the time God is good."

Daily mantra to be able to live and carry on in every phase of struggle, weakness and in those of happiness and conquest too. Sometimes we're too focused on the bad in life to see the little details that God takes care of, the little miracles and wonders that He performs around us, but they're always there. Look for them every day. Look for God's touch every day.

5. "Do something that relieves you"

People only become frustrated beings when supernatural expectations are created.

The relief of a hot bath, a cold swim, dancing or watching a series, going to the gym or taking a walk - it's the small parts of everyday life that make us human beings and not frustrated beings. We only become frustrated when we don't get the rest we deserve, be it mental, emotional or physical.

6. “Self-criticism and self-pressure are of no use to you if you don't know how to deal with them."

Allow yourself to make mistakes and recover what you've lost, to fall and get up again, to make mistakes and try again, to redo something and deserve the next chance.

Allow yourself to get up off the floor and try once more. Allow yourself every day.

7. "Be the woman you want your daughter to be."

It's something like now being the person you want your children to be, in other words, to what we've been taught by our parents and other educators we add the learning we've chosen for ourselves and we create a knowledge base that we want to teach our children and so instead of our children becoming us, we, well before them, become what we want them to be.

8. "If you don't know what you're doing, stop for a while and reflect."

If you've run out of focus, you've run out of plans, means, and dreams = just live each day as best you can and little by little, life, God, the Universe (whatever you prefer to believe), will show you the steps to follow and the plans to make. Do your part and he'll do His.

9. "A beautiful smile isn't just about having your teeth aligned, it's about looking in the mirror and liking what you see"

As cheesy and clichéd as it may be, it's one of the purest truths we have to learn. Self-happiness is one of the most valuable things we have and it's what leads us to what we want most in life.

10. "There will always be people who disagree with what you're doing."

Who knew? Everything I do professionally and creatively is not at all for my family and friends, my target audience will never be them. So why would I believe their criticism and lack of confidence and will?

11. "Nobody gets tired of doing something they love."

Day-to-day life can be difficult, routines can get tiring, and waking up early can become frustrating, but if what you do is even remotely something you enjoy, day-to-day life won't be so difficult, routines will flow more smoothly and waking up early will become acceptable.

If you don't do something you enjoy, you'll be tired and frustrated. Believe me.

12. "Don't suffer for something you know won't work out."

Why are you still suffering over something that happened months ago? Something that didn't work out back then and you think it will now? Is that hope, faith or blindness?

Free yourself little by little. The weight you're carrying, the bricks in that rucksack of yours, are too heavy for anyone - don't feel like Superman or Superwoman.

13. "When it looks like things are getting better, they are."

Are there going to be low moments again? YES!

Will you feel frustrated again? YES

But the good moments will become more than the down moments. The moments of joy, laughter and happiness will be more than the frustrating ones. Believe it!

14. "It's not about disobedience, it's about respect and politeness."

15. "There's no point in comparing your stage of life with someone else's."

Growth, education and life situations are always different.

Give yourself the self-respect to just live your life without the pressure of trying to live according to, based on or imitating the lives of others.

16. "Your friendships - if they're not watered, cared for and loved - are gone!"

Look after the people you want around you.

You have to mourn the friendships that end, for your own well-being, but you can think of the people you've lost along the way with affection and without pressure. These are people you still love deep down.

17. "Post-university is not the end of the world!"

Why are you so scared of finishing university? Yes, it's going to be hard! But think about it: you'll finally create your own routine outside of classes, you'll have the privilege of pursuing what you want to do and you won't have any grades! As much as it sounds scary, it sounds amazing!

18. "Stop waiting for Friday to be happy!"

Create a lifestyle that isn't just about work and fill each day with something that keeps you going, that motivates and encourages you every day. Your life isn't just about the weekend, it's about every day!

19. "Think every day about how much you've grown and be proud of every weakness and every achievement!"

It's no use thinking about life from time to time, it has to be a constant thing - not to blame yourself or have regrets - but to think about how much you've already lived, what you've overcome and especially everything you never thought you'd be able to achieve and heal and you've done it every time. Think about every moment that you felt weak, that you wanted to cry, to give up, every moment of weakness, and be proud of yourself for allowing yourself to feel weak and also for not letting that be the centre and guide your life.

20. "The pictures that you sent me, they're still livin' in my phone" - Amnesia

5 Seconds of Summer said it best - when something in life comes to an ending, you do not need to delete those photographs! Deal with the situation your way and make peace with everything that happens.

21. "Running away from situations doesn't do you any good"

Analogy: You're a fish. You spend a lot of time in a dirty, toxic tank. You spend a week in a clean, cared-for tank. Then you go back to the dirty, toxic tank.

What good did it do you to go on holiday or take a few days to yourself if you went back to the dirty, toxic environment? You can be the difference in the bad situations in your life, you can be the Light of Jesus. You can be used to change situations!

22. “I didn't look to the sky before him"

Now every sunset and sunrise, I think of him.

It's a bitter-sweet coincidence in life. I think of him every time I see the sky almost. It makes me feel so grateful that he gave me that. That he taught me to enjoy the wonders of God!

23. "RUN TO THE PURPOSE"

Be Intentional

Be Focused

Be with God

Run to Him

Run to Jesus

Run to the Holy Spirit
